Whether you have a PC or Mac (or even just a smartphone or tablet!) – it doesn’t matter, so long as you can make video calls, like Skype.
What Platform Do You Use?
We prefer to use Google Hangouts on a PC or Mac, when possible, because video/sound quality is high, and it makes screen sharing & file sharing very easy.
We also use Skype video chat with many clients.
But we also know that Google Hangouts & Skype aren’t an option for every student. If you need to use another service, we’ll do everything we can to accommodate you!
For Google Hangouts, you need a recent version of one of these web browsers:
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Mozilla Firefox
For Skype, you need either Windows XP or higher, or Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or later.
We can teach classes via WhatsApp video chat on your Android device, iPhone or iPad (but not via WhatsApp web, which doesn’t support video calls).
If you’re an Apple user, we can teach classes via FaceTime video chat on your Mac, iPhone, iPad or iOS device.
We’re happy to teach via WeChat video chat on your Mac, PC, iPhone or Android device.
Telegram does not support video calls, nor do they have plans to add video call support. We prefer not to use Telegram for classes at presents.
We’re happy to teach via Snapchat video chat on your iPhone or Android device.
We’re happy to teach via Line video chat on your Android or iOS device.
We’re always open to learning new ways to teach online! Please let us know if your favourite platform isn’t listed.
What About Hardware?
We’ll be talking and using video, so you’ll also need:
- Microphone & headphones
- A webcam
- Fast internet (ie, broadband or 3G/4G)
